Le
Mans Test Round-Up
Date:
24~25.03.2005
Track: Le Mans (France)
Drivers: Tom Dillmann, Kamui Kobayashi, Patrick Rocha
The
second official test organized by RST for the drivers who
will participate in the Formula Renault 2.0 Eurocup Championship
took place in the French circuit of Le Mans.
This was the first contact of our Team with the "Bugatti"
circuit of Le Mans. Kamui, Patrick and Tom demonstrated their
competitiveness from the very beginning.
"These were two days of hard work on a circuit where
we had very little experience. The programme was devoted,
first of all, to get to know the track and then, to the set
up of the car" declared Fabio Zilio, race engineer in
charge of Japanese driver Kamui Kobayashi.
Angelo Rosin, Team Principal of Prema Powerteam was also present
in Le Mans and said: "Kamui quickly adapted to this new
track, marking the fastest time on both days. Good performance
also for Patrick, who managed to finished among the best five.
During these two days he worked very hard on the set up of
his vehicle, giving some very important hints. Tom's performance
was positive as well. He continued working on his knowledge
of the vehicle and on the use of new tyres. The first day
was partially conditioned by the rain that fell in the morning."
Tom Dillmann: "I am pleased with the test carried out
and with the results achieved. I still have to improve my
knowledge of the vehicle and the use of new tyres. Together
with the team we are working in the right direction, and we
have to continue like this, in view of the first race."
Kamui Kobayashi: "It was a good test. The car was well
balanced on the track, under either wet or dry conditions.
It was the first time on this circuit for me and for the team.
Coming back home with the best chronometric performance makes
me feel optimistic about the future."
Patrick Rocha: "During these two days we worked very
hard in order to develop the vehicle for the race, with used
tyres. We were able to find some important and useful solutions
for the future. I could have done better with new tyres, but
anyway I am satisfied with the fifth position I marked yesterday."
Next official test will be taking place in a week's time on
the Spanish circuit of Valencia.
