Formula
3 Euro Series 2005 - R4 Monaco - Race Round-Up
First
seasonal podium for Franck Perera and Prema on the city circuit
of MonteCarlo. Along the streets of the Principality, Franck
Perera was always among the protagonists, from the free practice
session, on Thursday morning, when he finished in fifth position.
Good performance for Marco, who finished the session in the
tenth place. The other Prema driver, Belgian Greg Franchi
was a bit behind because he had some difficulties in understanding
this new circuit. During great part of the session Franck
was in the second position but near the end Loic Duval and
Adrian Sutil were able to overtake him while he was conditioned
by traffic. Unfortunately, Greg Franchi and Marco Bonanomi
were not able to occupy one of top ten positions because they
could not find the necessary space in the last minutes of
the session.
Races, in this type of circuit, are strongly conditioned by
the position obtained in the starting grid, as there are not
many places where it is possible to overtake.
Race1: There wasn't a good start for Franck Perera and Greg
Franchi. Unluckily, Franck lost one position and finished
in the fifth place. Marco Bonanomi was thirteenth. Greg Franchi
was delayed after a contact with another vehicle in the "Grand
Hotel" bend.
Race 2: Franck Perera was on the podium, after a race where
he was able to maintain a good rhythm Greg Franchi and Marco
Bonanomi were both involved in accidents in the initial part
of the race.
Davide De Gobbi: "Finally a good result that will
raise our spirit, in a prestigious circuit and in a context
of considerable value. It was important for Franck to be on
the podium again and demonstrate to be among the protagonists.
This podium gives us the input to continue working in order
to reach victory, as soon as possible."
Marco Bonanomi: "Unfortunate weekend. Everything
was affected by a qualifying session, where we did not show
our real potentialities. In the last minutes heavy traffic
also conditioned the possibility to reach the scoring zone."
Greg Franchi: "I can't find the right words to
describe this weekend. The vehicle was all right but unluckily
the qualifying session conditioned everything. In the next
break we must work hard in order to come near our rivals."
Franck Perera: "It was a good result for me and
for the Team after a disappointing start during the present
season. It was important for me to do my best here, in MonteCarlo,
in front of the Formula 1 circus and Toyota, that has been
supporting my career. It was a pity that in the first race
I made a mistake at the start. This podium must be a good
starting point for the rest of the season."
