AF3
to become one make engine Formula in 2006
The
Asian Formula Three Corporation has made a policy decision
that effective 2006 the series will specify a single make,
identical specification Formula Three engine and ECU system
in a bid to reduce costs for the competitor and therefore
maintain the growth of the series.
Predictably
costs have began to escalate with the introduction of several
later specification engines and the need for dedicated ECU
programmers reported Eddie Pena, Chairman of the AF3
Corporation. It is simply not viable for a series in
this region to require budgets beyond a certain level and
we are already dangerously close to that level. It is just
good common sense to make the one make engine decision.
AF3
will announce which engine will be used in 2006 and beyond
by July of this year.
