 ”Our
Mission is to win, it’s really as simple as that.”
That’s
the word from Team BRM Driver Karl Reindler, as the 2004 Australian
Formula 3 championship reaches its exciting climax at the Lexmark
Indy 300 carnival this weekend on the Gold Coast.
Reindler
heads to the season finale’ at the tough 4.7 concrete canyon
just nine points behind the series leader after an difficult round
of the championship at Mallala a month ago.
In
a season which has featured dominating performances at both Wakefield
Park and Eastern Creek raceway, the Mallala result was tough to
take for the 19 year old West Australian driver, who was forced
to relinquish the championship lead after the meeting’s second
race.
Despite
the difficult South Australian meeting, Reindler heads to the sun
and sights of Surfers confident that he will leave with the 2004
Australian Formula 3 championship trophy safe in his bag.
Driving
the team’s second Dallara F301 Speiss Opel will international
Aussie Marcus Marshall, who re joins BRM after racing with the team
at the opening round of the current season.
Marshall,
who has spent the year competing with Fortec Motorsport in the ultra
competitive British Formula 3 championship, broke through for an
historic race win in the 18th round of the series at Silverstone
this year in horribly wet conditions.
The
former Australian Carrera Cup ace will jump back into the team BRM
Dallara F301 Speiss Opel at Surfers, having raced the same car to
a fourth place finish on the Adelaide Streets in March.
The
prior experience on street circuits should see Marshall in good
stead as the series heads towards the concrete canyon that is the
Gold Coast layout.
Team
BRM Will once again have a strong presence in the Yokohama Trophy
class, despite having already wrapped up the championship at the
Mallala round of the series last month with Kiwi Nic Jordan behind
the wheel.
The
team’s Dallara F398 Speiss Opel chassis has run faultlessly
all season and has dominated the Yokohama Trophy, winning its class
in every race it has started. The car has also finished on the outright
podium on two occasions, both of them with the 16 year old sensation
behind the wheel.
Team
BRM owner Bronte Rundle said that the team was in good shape heading
into the final round for 2004.
"It's
great to have Marcus on board with us for the final round of the
championship. He has proven himself with us earlier this year at
the Clipsal 500, and we look forward to working with him again on
the Gold Coast.” Commented Rundle.
“Karl
and Marcus have completely different goals to achieve this weekend,
but we are confident both will run at the front of the field. "
he said.

of the Marcus Marshall and Yokohama Trophy class entry’s for
the weekend.
The
final round of the 2004 Australian Formula 3 championship will be
concluded over the course of three demanding races through the Surfers
Paradise concrete canyon on Thursday, Friday and Sunday respectively
this weekend.
